Caribbean funk & soul from the 70's! Highly sought after originals often fetch 3 figures from diggers looking for the "MAKING TRACKS" break & funky sounds. Modeled after American soul and R&B like THE METERS, the 11 song album contains funky, groovy rhythms throughout. Transparent yellow wax. At a time when St. Lucia’s music fans are particularly discriminating about their likes and dislikes, it is pointedly significant that they have taken to the sound of the Night Train en masse. Little wonder, as these heavy tracks will convincingly prove. The natural, infectious exuberance of St. Lucia bubbles excitingly throughout this album, rejuvenating Perez Prado’s famous oldie, “Patricia”, and adding West Indian rhythm-spice to the Carpenters’ “For All You Know, Superstar”, from the record-smashing show — even adding a new dimension to Kitch’s “Curfew”. The skin work of Rudy Auguste, definitely one of the most adventurous percussionists in the Caribbean today, is nothing short of spellbinding — hypnotic. It takes over control of your feet — and soul! Listen to Emerson Nurse on electric organ and you’ll experience the thrill and joy enjoyed by the hordes of fans who turn up to each Night Train gig. Nurse, Night Train’s leader, also arranged numbers on this album. A veritable 20th century Pied Piper. Addison Nelson on electric bass and Anthony Francis on rhythm guitar are two more of the secret ingredients in this appetizing Night Train fare. Enjoy it! Just six months old, Night Train is going places, non-stop to Hitsville. Two months ago Night Train’s astute manager, Terry Clarke (a fine musician in his own right), discovered the Superbs and combined their inimitable sound with that of the Night Train. Sample some of their work in “The Loser” and “The Way I Feel” penned by Mervyn Blanchard and Lucas Marshall (the Superbs) and arranged by Emerson Nurse. By the way, “Mediocre” and “Making Tracks” supply concrete proof that Emerson Nurse is probably the Caribbean’s answer to Burt Bacharach. Take your pick of these Night Train/Superbs tracks. Whichever way you choose, you’re headed for a wild trip. No wonder St. Lucians take the Night Train! — Rick Wayne (Editor — The Voice)
